Flag Wreath

Memorial Day is coming up and I started looking for some easy Patriotic crafts. Patriotic crafts can be used for Memorial Day and through the Fourth of July.  I saw this beautiful Flag Wreath on Pinterest and quickly gathered my supplies.

Start with your wreath.  I like using the foam tubes and I tape the ends together.

I had some white yarn already, so I just bought some red and blue skeins.

Wrap the yarn tightly around the wreath.  You can leave a little tail at the end and wrap over it with the other color of yarn.

Or you can pin the ends with a straight pin.

Repeat the wrapping with red and white yarn.  Make sure your blue section is the biggest part.

For the stars, I found some self-adhesive felt shapes at Hobby Lobby.

Stick them on the blue.  For added reinforcement, I used hot glue.

On the back of the wreath, I hot glued a red ribbon that I had formed into a loop.

It's ready to hang on the front door.

Note:  It took a couple hours to make.  The longest part was wrapping the yarn.  It's easy, just time consuming.  I used the foam tube, but I may make another one using a wider wreath or wider tube.  It has the 'skinny' look.  It doesn't look bad, just not as full.  You could also double the layers of yarn to give it a thicker look.  Overall, I like it!

  1. I loved the way that came out :)

I made one for my Mom last Mother's Day with felt flowers & butterflies and I could only find the floral ring, so I had a green mess all over the kitchen. BUT she liked it :)

    1. Thank you!!! That green styrofoam can be so messy, so I prefer that foam tubes. But your wreath sounds so creative and pretty!

  2. cute! I may try this via the fat-ribbon route, as I just don't feel like wrapping that much yarn ;-) looks great!

    1. Thanks! I've thought about trying ribbon too. Let me know how it turns out if you do it!

  3. Wow...that looks like a lot of work! It's great that you had the perseverance to the end....I'm sure it looks wonderful on your door. Have a wonderful celebration!

    1. Thanks for the encouragement! :) It was time consuming, but easy to do. I love how it turned out!

  4. This is a sweet wreath. I've not tried anything with yarn before so I'll have to give this a try!

Thanks for giving me your awesome feedback! Blessings!!!
